Lumumba Sub-County Hospital
Lumumba Hospital was founded in 1966 and is currently under the leadership of medical superintendent Pamela Olilo. 132 doctors and 500 Community Health Promoters (CHPs) work at the hospital to treat 11,000 patients per month. Lumumba Hospital specializes in general medicine and maternal health services. They are consistently recognized as one of the most trustworthy and high quality hospital centers in the area.
Our partnership with Lumumba Sub-County Hospital has enabled us to create a safe, welcoming childcare space for mothers seeking healthcare. Through renovation, construction, and artistic collaboration, we've transformed a central area into a vibrant environment where children can play and a lactation corner for mothers to breastfeed in private.

It was always a picture of long queues with mothers and babies all in a small space and some seeking for multiple services. We were challenged on how to contain or occupy the children while they waited for services."
